Abstract

288,380. Watson, G. Jan. 10, 1927. Chimneys; chimney-tops; spark arresters and deflectors.-A chimney for steam tractors or the like where a forced draught is used, or a cowl attachment therefor, comprises a central flue 1 and a pair of deflectors 5 symmetrically arranged about the longitudinal axis and the generating lines of which are of U- or similar shape. The first deflector 5 is carried by an integral web on a cross-piece 8 bolted in the larger main flue 2 and the second 11 has an annular opening 12 through which the particles are projected, these being finally removed through the doors 4 of the main flue. A cone 13 may be inserted above the deflectors in the flue 2 to form an expansion chamber. The openings in the deflector 11 may be radially arranged.
