Abstract
27,670. Mors, E. Dec. 15. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting and governing in. A spray carburetter is divided into two compartments C', C', Fig. 4, one of which C' is fitted with one or more spraying- nozzles E, in communication with the constant-level fuel reservoir A. Hot or cold air is drawn through the orifices c', c', or hot air through one and cold air through the other, and the areas of the orifices may be regulated by a cylindrical register or throttle valve, controlled by the engine governor ; or a valve J may be placed at the junction of the chambers C<1>, C', to regulate the flow of the explosive mixture from the chamber C<!> and, when opened wider, to regulate the flow of the excess air from the chamber C<2>. The carburetter may be heated by the exhaust gases, and the shapes of the chambers C', C' may be varied ; for instance, one may surround the other.
