Abstract
1537019 Microstrip antenna RAYTHEON CO 22 April 1977 [3 May 1976] 16884/77 Heading H4A A microstrip antenna formed with at least one cavity having a radiating slot comprises printed circuit elements sandwiched between dielectric sheets 42l, 42u, covered with a conductive overlay 43 such as copper, except at slots 44a, 44b in the overlay, the elements including feed stubs 38a, 38b which couple to respective slots 44a, 44b. The antenna is fed by a coax. line and a microstrip hybrid coupler 34 which connects the feed stubs 38a, 38b, which themselves constitute quarter-wave impedance transformers, to matching stubs 40a, 40b. Shorting lines 46a, 46b between the top and bottom faces of the overlay form one boundary of cavities which surround respective slots 44a, 44b, trimmers 48a, 48b being provided for these cavities. The antenna is intended for use in an array forming part of a sidelobe-suppression IFF system.
