Abstract

1527390 Securing scraper conveyer pans DOWTY MECO Ltd 26 Aug 1977 [28 Aug 1976 1 Feb 1977] 35888/76 and 04070/77 Heading B8A Scraper conveyer pans are secured by a connector member 22 which is inserted laterally into a recess 14 formed in each end of the adjacent pans to be connected. The recess 14 has a mouth of constricted width and the connector is of flattened construction so that it can be inserted as shown in Fig. 18, and then turned through 90 degrees to the locked-in position of Fig. 19. Each end of the connector has a head which is received in a respective larger recess, and a pin 66 is inserted in a corresponding bore in one of the heads, to prevent the connector from being able to turn back to its Fig. 18 position. The pin 66 has a clip 67 which pivots through 180 degrees to an overcentre resiliently biased position (as shown in Fig. 17) to retain the pin 66 in its bore. The clip 67, in this position, embraces a part-spherical retaining projection 63 on the connector 22. In a modification, the end of the connector is of cylindrical (instead of D cross-section) shape and the clip 67 is shaped to engage the cylindrical surface thereby provided (Figs. 20, 21, not shown). In the latter embodiment, the sides and base of the pans have interengaging projections and recesses (103) and (169). In other embodiments (Figs. 1-15, not shown) the connector 22 is retained from turning by pins which are located in bores which are formed in the material of the pans themselves.
