Abstract

1522025 Automatic circuit breaker DORMAN SMITH SWITCHGEAR Ltd 30 July 1976 [3 Sept 1975] 36191/75 Heading H1N A locking mechanism is provided in a circuit breaker of the kind including a dolly 11 which is manually movable between an off and an on position and automatically movable upon tripping of the circuit breaker from the on to the off position, the locking mechanism comprising a spring biased fouling bar 24 which automatically moves under the action of its bias spring 26 into the path of movement of the dolly 11 when the dolly moves to the off position to prevent the dolly being restored to the on position unless the locking mechanism is reset by means of a key. The key fits on to a stub shaft 15, and when it is turned it rotates this shaft to move an arm 21 which can withdraw the fouling bar 24 from the path of movement of the dolly, thus allowing the dolly to be moved back to the on position, simultaneously charging the fouling bar bias spring 26. Two similar locking mechanisms may be associated with a single circuit breaker, Fig. 6, not shown.
