Abstract

1,243,475. Automatic circuit breakers. SQUARE D CO. 6 Nov., 1969 [18 Nov., 1968], No. 54378/69. Heading H1N. A circuit-breaker mechanism of the kind having an overcentre spring 47 and toggle linkage 39, 41 for closing the contacts 19 and a releasably latched trip lever 30 has a latching device 13, 36 between the moving contact arm 18 and the trip lever 30 such as to maintain the arm 18 in the fully open position during the initial closing movement of the handle 25, the latching device being disengaged by a roller 27 on the handle when the spring 47 has moved well beyond the dead-centre position. The mechanism is otherwise as described in Specification 1,145,588.
