Abstract

1517537 Semiconductor lasers POST OFFICE 5 Aug 1976 [16 July 1975] 29810/75 Heading H1C A single piece of semiconductor material 12 includes a laser 15 and a photodetector 14 arranged to receive an output beam from the laser. By monitoring the laser output in this way a further output beam, used, e.g. in an optical communication system, may be maintained at a constant intensity level (using the photodetector output in a feedback loop to the laser pumping source 24).
