Abstract

1514174 Packets MOLINS LTD 15 Dec 1975 [14 Dec 1974] 54148/74 Heading B8C A packet, e.g. for cigarettes comprises an open-topped inner structure including front and back panels 4, 6, a base 8 and flaps 10, 12, each connected to one of the panels 4, 6 and having a free edge, a moisture-proof wrapper 20 and a tear tab 32 for opening at least part of the top of the packet. The flaps 10, 12 may be borne by respective panels 4, 6 or by a single one, Fig. 4 (not shown), and tabs 14 are adhered to the base 8 to hold the inner structure erect. After inserting the cigarettes, a band (16), Fig. 2 (not shown), is fixed over the central portion of the open top and the wrapper 20, e.g. of cellulose or polypropylene, is applied, which wrapper comprises front and back panels 25, 27 joined either by a base portion, Fig. 1, or a side portion (54), Fig. 5 (not shown). To open the packet, the tab 32 defined by incisions 31, 33 is pulled, the wrapper 20 being torn along a line 38, and tear guide strips 34, 36, to allow access to the contents.
