Abstract

1,081,826. Cigarette &c. packages. LAWSON LITHOGRAPHING & FOLDING BOX CO. Ltd. Jan. 14, 1966 [Oct. 1, 1965], No. 1886/66. Heading B8P. A hinged lid carton for cigarettes &c. comprises an inner tray 2 and an outer shell 4 completely enclosing the tray, front and side panels 28 and 24, 26 respectively of the shell being longitudinally severed to divide the shell into portions 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> and to permit the upper portion 4<SP>1</SP> to hinge along a longitudinal line (48), Fig. 4 (not shown), in the rear panel (20) of the shell. Prior to severing the shell flaps (12), Fig. 5 (not shown), are secured by heat and pressure-sensitive adhesive to the side panels of the tray and flaps (30, 31) are secured to the side panels of the shell. Tabs (14) on the base of the tray engage slots 40 in the base of the shell to secure the tray within the shell and tabs 53 on the ends of a front flap 52 of the tray engage recesses 58 in the lid 4<SP>1</SP> to form a snap fastening for the lid.
