Abstract

834,935. Cartons; packages. TAMARIN, B. J. April 3, 1957 [April 9, 1956], No. 10930/57. Classes 18 and 94(1). A carton has a closure flap 23 separable from it to form a sliding closure, the flap having projections 46, 48 which are guided in slots 36, 38 in adjacent closure flaps 22, 24. The flap 23 overlaps the opposite flap 25 and is overlapped by the flaps 22, 24. It is separated from the carton body by breaking its connection 27 with the side wall 3 and is then free to slide back to expose part of the contents. The contents, such as cigarettes, may be contained in a conventional wrapper, the lower closure portion of which is interleaved with conventional carton closure flaps. The upper portion of the wrapper is weakened and cut as at 112-114 permitting the part 123 beneath the access opening to be torn away. In modifications, not detailed, the projections or a single projection may slide in slots in overlying flaps removed from the junction of these flaps with the carton sides.
