Abstract

1510633 Hinged lid cartons METAL BOX Ltd 14 May 1975 [29 May 1974] 23790/74 Heading B8P A carton which may hold eggs, has grooves 7 along two opposite edges in which are located the edges 19 of a hinged lid. A rib 8 prevents the edges from being displaced inwardly. The tray 1 may be moulded of high impact polystyrene or of PVC and the lid may be of white lined cardboard. Hinge margins 3 and 4 on the tray and lid are glued together or secured by staples or integral rivets. Alternatively, the margins may be connected by spearheads on one margin engaging slots in the other margin. The lid is secured by hinged flaps 14, 15 which carry tabs 18 that engage beneath the front edge of a rib 9 along the front of the tray. In another embodiment the front edge of the lid between the flaps 14, 15 may engage an additional groove on the tray. The lid may be formed from a blank having corner gussets.
