Abstract
1501201 Anorectic compositions SOC CIVILE DE RECHERCHES ET D'ETUDES NOUVELLES SCREEN 17 Jan 1975 [17 Jan 1974] 2198/75. Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having an anorexigenic effect, in the form of a solid or sterile solution, comprise a pharmaceutical carrier together with an active ingredient of the formula: in which Ar is R 1 R 2 -phenyl, wherein R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different and may occupy any position on the phenyl nucleus, each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkoxy group having one or two carbon atoms or, if they are in the ortho position with respect to one another, together form a carbocyclic ring; -X represents a carbonyl group or a methylene group and -Y represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having two or three carbon atoms which may be substituted by alkyl groups having 1 or 2 carbon atoms of which two such alkyl groups may form, between themselves and at least two carbon atoms of the said hydrocarbon group, a saturated carbocyclic ring which may itself be substituted by one or more alkyl groups, provided that Y does not represent a saturated aliphatic chain of two or three carbon atoms when one of R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> represents an alkoxy group in the para position with respect to X and the other represents H, and X represents CO or CH 2 . and that Y does not represent an unsaturated chain of two carbon atoms when one of R 1 and R 2 represents a methoxy group in the para position with respect to X and the other represents H, and X represents carbonyl, or an addition salt thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable acid. Active ingredients specifically disclosed are 3 - (4' - methoxybenzyl) - 3 - (4' - methoxybenzoyl)-, 3 - (4' - ethoxybenzoyl)-, 3 - (3', 4' - dimethoxybenzoyl) - and 3 - (1, 2, 3, 4 - tetrahydronaphthyl - 6 - carbonyl) - 1, 2, 2 - trimethylcyclopentane carboxylic acids, 2 - (4' - methoxybenzoyl) - cyclohexane carboxylic acid and 4 - (4' - methoxybenzoyl) - 2 - butenoic acid.
