Abstract

1458480 Cigarettes & pipes CALGON CORP 16 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 54319/74 Heading A2C [Also in Division Gl] A smoking article (e.g. a cigarette or pipe) has a burnable tobacco change, a mouth end and a filter element, which is interposed between the burnable tobacco charge and the mouth end, the filter element containing a tobacco smoke filtering material capable of removing HCN from tobacco smoke and comprising at least 50 mg of granular activated carbon impregnated with 0.5 to 15% by weight of cuprous chloride. The activated carbon may have a surface area of 250-1200 m<SP>2</SP>/gm.
