1454132 Dredgers GOYO-BALLAST KK 31 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 04494/74 Heading E1F In a waterborne dredger 1 the cable portions 80 of the or each suction duct hoist cable 10 passing between upper reversing pulleys 14 mounted on the hull of the dredger and lower reversing pulleys 13 connected to the suction-head 5, 6 of the duct 3 are acted upon between the pulleys 13, 14 by a cablelength varying device 16 and guide pulleys 12, 13 mounted on the hull to cause compensation in the duct hoist system for the wave motions of the hull. The two ends of the or each cable 10 are wound on to a hull-mounted winch associated with the or each cable. The device 16 involves an air-hydraulic piston cylinder system. A jetting head 7, 8 may be associated with the suction head 5, 6.
