Abstract

1,023,398. Cable laying craft. PIRELLI S.p.A. Feb. 11, 1965 [Feb. 22, 1964], No. 5939/65. Heading B7A. [Also in Division H2] A submarine cable is guided from a cablelaying ship to the shore by a pulley 3 which is mounted between the rigidly connected floats 1, 1<SP>1</SP>. The pulley rotates about axle 4 which is raised and tilted by adjustment of the hydraulic cylinders 8. The ends of the axle 4 are coupled by universal joints to bell crank levers 5, 7 and 51, 7<SP>1</SP> respectively which rotate about pivots 6 secured to respective floats 1, 1<SP>1</SP> when operated on by pistons of the hydraulic cylinders 8. A slipway is provided at the rear of the floats so as to guide and support the cable as it passes from the ship to the pulley 3.
