Abstract

1452577 Boxes UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE and LIBERTY CARTON CO 15 Oct 1974 [15 Oct 1973] 44636/74 Heading B8P A container formed from a single fibreboard blank 1 comprises a bottom wall 2, side walls 24, 40, end walls 4, 6 formed by doubled-over panel sections 4a, 4b, 6a, 6b, and a hingeable cover panel 44, which panel 44 includes a series of foldable sections 44a, 44b, 48 and locking flaps 52a, 52b, so that with the cover panel 44 in a collapsed, open condition, the flaps 52a, 52b may be tucked into pockets defined by the respective sections 4a, 4b, 6a, 6b of the end walls 4, 6 to provide access to the container. End flaps 54a, 54b, 34a, 34b of the side walls are retained between the panels 4a, 4b, 6a, 6b, which in turn are retained by tabs 12, 14 engaging in apertures 16, 18 at the ends of the bottom wall 2. Apertures 20a, 20b, 22a, 22b define handle holes, and the side wall 24 includes a doubled-over portion 24a having tabs 30 for engaging apertures 32. With the cover panel 44 open, the tabs 52a, 52b are tucked into the ends of the walls 4, 6 remote from the wall 24 (Fig. 4), while for closure purposes they enter the other ends, Fig. 6 (not shown).
