Abstract

1451852 Reciprocating compressors INGERSOLL-RAND CO 21 June 1974 [16 July 1973] 27655/74 Heading F1N [Also in Division F2] An assembly 10 for installation in a clearance space 16 formed in the cylinder head of a compressor and adjustable to change the compression ratio, comprises a pair of relatively angularly adjustable apertured valve-members 26, 26' held in facing contact and carried by an end cover 24 closing the space 16. The member 26' is carried by a sleeve 34 fixed to the cover 24 and the member 26 is carried by a shaft 20 passing through the sleeve 34. An arcuate slot 42 in a collar 30 keyed to the shaft 20 receives a screw 44 for clamping the shaft 20, and thus the valve-member 26, in a desired angular position. A handle 45 fixed to the collar 30 facilitates the turning of the shaft. The contact pressure between the members 26, 26' is adjustable by a nut 36 screwed on to the shaft 20 and held in position by a lock tab 38. An interchangeable spacer 46 is disposed in the space 16.
