Abstract
1510998 Reciprocating piston pump with secondary pump ABEX CORP 24 June 1975 [2 Aug 1974] 26778/75 Heading F1A A pump assembly comprises a first pump having a rotary cylinder block 17 urged against a valve plate 44 mounted in a housing 12, 13, 14, a second pump clamped against a further valve plate 65 also mounted in the housing, a shaft 46 for transmitting drive from the block 17 to the second pump, and a spring 57 acting between the shaft 46 and the block 17 for simultaneously biasing the block 17 against the plate 44 and clamping the second pump against the plate 65. The spring 57 bears on an enlarged end 47 of the shaft 46 and acts on the block 17 through a collar 56 and a snap ring 55, a gap 58 between the end 47 and the collar 56 determining the maximum permitted separation between the block and its valve plate. The separaration is variable by a nut 60 threaded on to the other end of the shaft 46.
