Abstract

1367164 Compressors M I FRENKEL 7 Oct 1971 [13 Oct 1970] 46605/71 Heading F1N The suction valves 7 and outlet valves 8 of a double-acting or two-stage reciprocating piston compressor are cylindrical and are mounted concentrically in end-to-end relationship with the cylinder 6. Intermediate rings 15 separate the valves. The assembly comprising the cylinder 6, valves 7, 8 and rings 15 are disposed in a bore in a body 1, the ends of the assembly being closed by covers 2, 3. A common suction chamber 13 defined between the cylinder 6 and the body 1 communicates suction gas to the inlet sides of the suction valves. Separate discharge chambers 14 in the body 1 communicates gas leaving the valves 8 to delivery pipes 19. In a second embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown), each valve has its own suction or discharge chamber, a cylinder cooling jacket (30) also being provided. In an alternative construction single suction and discharge chambers are provided for each pair of suction and delivery valves, respectively.
