Abstract

1447620 Disc cutters; bending; rolling W E J JARVIS 19 Dec 1973 [30 Sept 1972] 45238/72 Headings B3W B3E and B3M [Also in Divisions B4 and B6] Disc cutters 17 axially slidable on rotary shafts 12 are spaced by members 28 which hook at 31 on to fixed shafts 16 and are pivoted into and out of spacing relationship with a cutter. Each cutter is mounted in a housing 22 with bearings 21 between the cutter and housing plates 23. An apertured lug 25 projecting from the housing is mounted on a guide shaft 15 to prevent rotation of the housing. Wooden stripper plates (not shown) and guards 42 are provided. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 7, a spacing yoke 40, 41 runs on a slideway (not shown) and the shaft 15 is vertically aligned with the shaft 12. The cutters may be replaced by rolling, bending or other deforming tools.
