Abstract

1442722 Lubricating MOSKOV AVTOMEKHANICHE INST IZHEV MASHINOSTROITELNY ZAVOD and ZAVOD IM VA DEGTYAREVA 24 Jan 1974 [6 Jan 1973] 03285/74 Heading F2A [Also in Division F1] Two-stroke I.C. engine lubricating system includes a carburetter 26 having an adjustable throttle 25, and a worm-type oil pump driven directly from the engine crank-shaft so that in use the pump delivers continuously a volume of oil proportional to the engine speed and also includes an oil metering device downstream of the pump and mechanically connected to the throttle so that the supply of oil varies in accordance with throttle position. Pump 3 draws oil from tank 1 and expels it through a filter 14 to a passage 12, from which part of the oil passes to a conduit 34 past a metering plug 16, the position of which is adjusted in correspondence with the position of throttle 25 by a linkage 19, 20, 21. Conduit 34 leads to a diaphragm type valve 35 which maintains a pre-set pressure in the conduit to prevent metering being effected by the low pressure prevailing in the intake pipe 30, to which the conduit 39 leads. An indicator 38 is connected to a pressure transducer 37 which monitors the pressure in conduit 34. In a first modification, conduit 39 discharges into a distance piece 44 between the carburetter and engine. In a second modification, conduit 39 discharges directly into the engine crank-case. In a third modification the oil is discharged into the crank-shaft main bearings and is then fed to the big-end bearings through oilways.
