Abstract

1285850 Gas turbine engine fuel systems GENERAL MOTORS CORP 19 April 1971 [4 June 1970] 22616/71 Heading F1G Fuel is supplied from a tank 3 via an injector 15, an engine-driven boost pump 6 and an enginedriven main pump 8, the injector being energized by fuel returned via a return line 19. To avoid excessive flow through the return line 19 at high engine speeds, the usual flow-restricting orifice is replaced by a static device 26 in which the pressure drop is proportional to the mass flow raised to a power greater than two. The device 26 is in the form of a vortex cavity having a substantially tangential inlet and a central outlet, the aforementioned power being approximately 2À37.
