Abstract

1438089 Junction pieces PONT-A-MOUSSONSA 19 April 1974 [22 June 1973] 17175/74 Heading F2G A reinforced composite pipe union comprises a glass fibre reinforced thermoset plastics body 1 having at least two tubular end portions, and a metal case formed of two assembled half shells 2, 3 to which the aforementioned body adheres by way of an epoxy resin coating. Junction between the half shells of the case is achieved using a planar interface between thicker portions 7, 8 of the half shells and an abutment 9. In an alternative embodiment the assembled case halves may be exactly cylindrical and assembly achieved using a further cylindrical sleeve capping the case halves. The union may be in the form of an elbow or a tee in which latter case the assembly may be strengthened by employing an additional assembly of two half shells backing the tee and assembled together using external hooking arrangement.
