Abstract

1435026 Rotary positive-displacement fluid machines T R W Inc 23 Nov 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 54566/73 Heading F1F A vane 30 for a pump, or engine, of the slippervane type is shaped such that the dimensional ratios W/D and C A /D are substantially 2.6-2.8 and 1.4-1.9, respectively. Preferably, the radius of curvature of the surface 34 differs from that of a compression spring S by substantially 2.5-5% and the spring's dimensional ratio SL/SD is not greater than 1.55. The centre of gravity C.G. of the vane may be at the distance D from the vane's upper surfaces 36, 37. These provisions are said to reduce noise and permit high-speed operation.
