Abstract

1424733 Rotary-piston fluid-machines ROLLS-ROYCE MOTORS Ltd 24 May 1974 [6 June 1973] 26961/73 Addition to 1182097 Heading F1F The main invention is improved or modified by the addition of a slot or slots 12 on the trailing side of each apex seal 3 to give fluid in chamber B access to the underside of the seal when the latter is in the attitude shown. The seal may have a recess at 18, Fig. 4, so as to prevent communication between the chamber B and the underside of the seal when the latter is tilted towards said chamber. Alternatively, the seal may be shaped as shown in Fig. 5 to increase the pressure loading of the seal towards the housing.
