Abstract

1432057 A composite closure CONTINENTAL CAN CO Inc 27 July 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 35918/73 Heading B8T A composite closure 5 for closuring a vacuumsealing container 31 comprises a lid 7 having a peripheral downwardly-facing gasket-lined lid channel member 26 sealing over the container top finish 28 and also having a bottom edge 20, and a fitment 6 having an annular downwardlyfacing fitment channel 12 riding over the lid channel member 26, the fitment 6 having an integral cylindrical skirt extension 11 which contains internal discontinuous projections 18 engaging the edge 20 of the lid 7. To open the container a tab (10), Fig. 2 (not shown), which is hinged at (36) to the fitment 6, is disconnected by breaking off connections 35 thereby facilitating complete removal.
