Abstract

1420201 Modifying acoustics ELECTRONIC ACOUSTIC CONDITIONING Ltd 8 Dec 1972 [31 Dec 1971] 61043/71 Heading G5X To give a desired degree of privacy of conversation to a person in one part of an office, sound having a wide range of frequencies with a peak in the region of 800 Hz to 1600 Hz is fed to other parts of the office. The output of a white noise generator A, Fig. 3, is divided into separate frequency bands by high and low pass filters D1-D6 and E1-E6 respectively, the gain of each band being adjustable at F1-F6. The recombined signals are fed to loudspeakers or transducers K1-K4 coupled to structural panels or room dividers. A scheme is described for calculating the relative intensities in different frequency bands. A fire alarm and/or a public address system may be added.
