Abstract

1413673 Two-part coupling BUNKER RAMO CORP 25 June 1973 [26 June 1972] 29870/72 Heading H2E An electrical connector inserted into counterpart by forward movement of an outer sleeve and removed by similar backward movement, but which is locked against cable pull when inserted, comprises tube 12 with splines 13 mating with counterpart 40, outer sliding sleeve 32, a nylon or similar tine ring 18 carrying eight integral tines 19, and spring 20-loaded ring 21. Parts 12 and 40 both carry mating electrical contacts as required, those on part 12 being connected to a cable entering from the right, and secured by cable grips (not shown). One insertion of part 12 into part 40 by finger grip on ribs 33 of sleeve 32, ring 21 is pushed to the right against spring 20 by the face of rim 41, so allowing tines 19 to move inward under the camming action of inward rib 28 on the sleeve working against the cam form on the back of the tines. Notches 24 on the tines then lock behind rim 41, so retaining the connector against cable pull. Withdrawal is by the reverse action of sliding back the sleeve 32. Tine ring 18 is retained on tube 12 by force fitting over projecting rib 17. Sleeve 32 is retained by the tines acting against inward flange 27, and by ring 29 inserted into the sleeve 32 after assembly and positioned to abut rib 14 on which the sleeve slides, as it does also on shoulder 31 on the tine ring.
