Abstract

1403651 Mobile luffing-arm apparatus; loading vehicles T L R HARDWICK 1 June 1973 26203/73 Headings B8H and B8E Coils are transported by means of a wheeled mobile frame 2 having a forward end portion 3 and side members 6, 7, an elongate member 5 on which the coils are actually carried being mounted on a support 9 which is pivotally connected to the frame portion 3 by a first pair of rams 45, 46 whose pistons are connected to the lower end of the frame portion 3 and whose cylinders are connected to the upper end of the support 9 so that the extension and retraction of the two said rams causes the retraction and extension respectively of the support 9 and elongate member 5 relative to the frame 2. By means of a further pair of rams 49, 50 which are also connected between the frame portion 3 and support 9 the elongate member 5 is tilted about a horizontal axis at the base of the support 9. The mounting of the support 9 on the frame portion 3 also includes a lift arm (37) pivotally connected therebetween, Fig. 5 (not shown). The mobile frame 2 is connected to a prime mover 4, e.g. a tractor, by means of a pair of ears 27, (28) on the frame portion 3 which are pivotally connected respectively to upper and lower frame portions 29, (30) on the prime mover 4, Fig. 5 (not shown). Movement of the mobile frame 2 about the pivotal mountings 27 (28) and 29 (30) is effected by means of a pair of rams 33, 34.
