1402994 Coloured food products UNILEVER Ltd 10 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47854/ 71 Heading A2B A packed edible product comprising a first liquid layer in contact with but having a different colour from a second liquid layer, both layers having a similar continuous phase, for example water, is characterised in that the first layer contains a dispersed colouring agent, which agent may be dispersed or dissolved in a dispersed phase, for example fat. Both layers may contain dispersed colour. Both layers may be dairy products, the first layer preferably being a custard containing an oil soluble colouring agent, and the second layer being yoghourt, which, together with a third layer comprising lemonade, fruit, or fruit juice, forms the. Dutch product Vla-flip. The product may be formed either by dispersing the colour in the first layer and then bringing the layers together without physical mixing, or by adding to the first layer a colour whose oil and water solubilities are such that substantially all is dissolved in the dispersed phase.
