Abstract

1402645 Venting jerry cans W SCHIEMANN 25 Aug 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 39827/72 Headings B8V and B8D A jerry can 11 is vented through a tube 43 and a cranked plastics pipe 36, the latter being formed in one piece with a ring 24 which is retained in spout 13 by annular ridge 30 and tooth 25 or by teeth (26), Fig. 7 (not shown). Inter-engaging lugs and recesses (not shown) on the spout 13 and ring 24 prevent relative rotation thereof. The cross-section of cranked pipe 36 changes from elliptical at end 68 to circular at section 42. A pouring pipe 57 includes a vent conduit 62 having an elliptical cross-section matching that of end 68 of cranked pipe 36. The walls of conduit 62 and pipe 36 are urged in leak-tight abutting relationship by screw cap 50, which is retained on the pouring pipe 57 when the latter is removed from the can by a collar 58.
