Abstract

1400886 Heat-sensitive two colour recording material MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 12 June 1972 [14 June 1971 5 Aug 1971 10 Aug 1971 20 Aug 1971] 27440/72 Heading G2C A heat-sensitive two-colour recording paper comprises a first layer comprising a triphenylmethane or fluoran non-coloured dye base having in the molecule a reactive colour developing component of the lactone or lactam type and a phenolic substance or an organic acid, dispersed as particles in a film-forming binder which layer develops a colour on the application of heat, a second layer comprising either (i) a second heatsensitive recording material capable of developing on the application of heat a colour different from the colour of the first layer or (ii) an interlayer which acts as a protective layer for a third layer which is previously coloured, the interlayer on the application of heat becoming transparent thereby developing the colour of the third layer (see Examples 16 and 17), the material containing as a decolourizing agent for the colour-developing substance contained in the first layer a thermofusible polyether which is solid at room temperature, the quantity A of heat necessary to develop the colour of the first layer, the quantity B of heat necessary to form the colour of the second layer and the quantity C of heat necessary to fluidize the thermofusible polyether being such as to satisfy the relationship A<C#B. The colourforming components of the second layer may be, an electron donor and an electron acceptor or a diazo compound and an azo coupler, dispersed as discontinuous particles into the film-forming binder. The polyether may be dispersed in the second layer (see Example 8-11, 16 and 17) or in the film-forming binder as an interlayer between the first and second layers (see Examples 1-7, and 12-15).
