Abstract

1398849 Supporting a vehicle light LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 8 Sept 1972 [4 Sept 1971] 41502/71 Heading F4R A vehicle headlight 12 having a flange 17 is adjustably supported on a plate 11a joined to a recess in a vehicle. A screw 22 for adjusting the headlight is held by a captive nut 21 in the plate 11a and has its grooved head 24 in contact with a rib (31, Fig. 5, not shown) of a releasable catch 26 which is held by channels (17a, Figs. 1 and 3, not shown) of the flange 17. Guide rods 32 are provided to stop the catch 26 rotating. The catch 26 has arms (29, Fig. 5) which hold the catch in the flange but can be moved when the catch is to be removed. The headlight is preferably rectangular and has one catch on its long side and another on its short side, thus providing for horizontal and vertical adjustment of the headlight. The headlight pivots about a pin 33 (Fig. 4) set in rubber 34 attached to a flange 19 of the headlight 12. The headlight may be removed from its support by pulling the lip 38 (Fig. 4) away from the edge of the flange 19 and removing the two catches 26.
