Abstract
1381599 Furniture frames F AUSTIN (LEYTON) Ltd 23 Aug 1972 [26 Aug 1971] 40186/71 Heading A4H [ Also in Division F2] A joint between two channels 6, 8 fitted one within the other, e.g. in furniture comprising a table top 4 to the underside of which a pair of channels 8 are secured to receive corresponding channels 6 extending as horizontal stubs from each of two end pedestal units (1-3), Fig, 1 (not shown), is effected by means of a clamping bracket 10 of generally L-section having one arm 12 disposed horizontally in use and equipped with two internally threaded bushes 14 disposed at spaced positions Fig. 3 (not shown) along the length of the bracket 10, the other arm 16 having a lip 18 for engaging the lower flange of the channel 8. Clamping is effected by screws 20 which are initially screwed into the threaded bushes sufficiently for the bracket to be inserted as shown with the projecting parts of the screws passing through slots in the lower flange of channel 6, after which a screwdriver is passed through holes 24 in the lower flange of channel 8 to unscrew the screws until their heads engage the lower flange of channel 8 to clamp the assembly.
