Abstract

1394483 Blasting ATLAS COPCO AB 9 Jan 1973 [26 Jan 1972] 1067/73 Heading B3D [Also in Division F2] In a container 1 for granular or pulverulent material, the outflow is controlled for blasting purposes, by a valve device comprising an apertured body 17 of elastomeric material which cooperates with a sliding closure member 19 with a drop-shaped aperture 20. The valve is actuated via a push-rod 23 and diaphragm 25<SP>1</SP> by a valve 30 which is co-ordinated with an air valve 13 such that material is only released when the air valve is open. The valves 13 and 30 are remotely controlled by a valve 34 at the nozzle end of a conduit 21 leading from the air-material mixing chamber. A manually adjustable pressure reducing valve 33 is also provided at the nozzle to control the rate of air and material through the nozzle. The container is pressurized and the pressure holds closed a valve 5 leading to the hopper 2.
