Abstract

1388892 Knitting machines UNIVERSAL MASCHINENFABRIK DR RUDOLF SCHIEBER KG 24 Feb 1972 [11 March 1971] 8586/72 Heading D1C A switch cam 1 on the carriage of a flat knitting machine is adjusted by releasing it as it approaches the adjusting device at the end of a knitting pass and, after adjusting the cam, reclamping them before a subsequent knitting pass. Block 2 carrying cam 1 is biassed by a spring 6 and is slidable in a slot 3 of cam box 4 where it is clamped by plate 5 and member 7 secured by a bolt 8 and nut 10 with lever arms 11, 11a. Cam 1 is released just before it travels onto an adjusting slide 15 or 16 by lever 11 engaging pin 13 after which the lever passes under pin 13 and slide 12 carrying pin 13 springs back so that on reversal of the carriage lever 11 engages pin 13 to reclamp the cam similarly at the opposite end of the needle bed pin (13a) on slide (12a) releases and reclamps the cam Fig. 7 (not shown). In another arrangement, clamping is effected by an eccentric lever 17 actuated by an electromagnet 18. Cam 1 may be adjusted mechanically by a slide 15 which slides in guides 21, 22 biassed against setting plates 24 on switch bar 25 which can be fine adjusted by screw spindles 26 and clamped. Bar 25 can, under the control of control cords, bring each plate 24, 24a, 24b, 24c into position for engagement by slide 15 which carries a venier scale 28. Alternatively an electrical device may be used.
