Abstract

1386971 Valves HYDRAULIC INDUSTRIES Inc 22 Feb 1972 [2 Nov 1971] 8125/72 Heading F2V A reversing valve comprising a spool 24 slidable in a bore for directing fluid from an inlet passage to one of two work ports 27, 28 is provided with a pressure regulating valve 26 in the inlet passage which is actuated by the pressure differential between the portions 31, 33 of the fluid passage from inlet to work port on either side of the spool valve and with an unloading valve 50 between the inlet and a return port which is open when the spool valve is in its neutral position and closes when the spool valve moves to an operating position. The unloading valve is held closed by the inlet fluid in the chamber 58 which is vented by the spool valve through line 65 when required to open. The separate unloading valve enables springs of more suitable strength to be used in the unloading and spool valves. A plurality of spool valves with corresponding pressure regulating valves are shown in Fig. 2 in series with one unloading valve. Lines are arranged such that adjacent flat sides of the various units provide the necessary interconnection. A check valve 34 is provided downstream of the portion 33 of each fluid passage. A line with a check valve may also be provided from the chamber 58 to the fluid passage ports on 31. In a particular "idling" position of the valve spool, the two motor ports may be connected with each other and with a low pressure passage L2 for return fluid. The plungers P in the pressure regulating valves shown in Fig. 2 are all of the priority type which can block fluid flow to the next unit. However, plungers of the parallel type which can never block the flow to the next unit can be used. In Fig. 2 the input line L1 eventually connects to the return line L2. However, the line L1 may be dead-ended. The spool (Fig. 11, not shown) may be provided with internal passages which provide the same connections as aforesaid to operate the valve. A valve 92 and a low pressure relief valve 87 are also provided in the assembly to connect the lines 16, L2 with the inlet 16 and a reservoir, respectively.
