Abstract

1384915 Ferrous alloys SINTER - METALLWERK KREBSOGE GmbH 19 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 23752/72 Heading C7A A sinter alloy comprises, by weight:- 2 to 7% nickel 0À5 to 3À5% copper 0À25 to 0À8% carbon the balance being iron and impurities, and wherein the nickel content is greater than the copper content; on sintering shrinkage due to the nickel content at least compensates for expansion or resilient expansion due to the copper content, thus providing a higher density product. The sintered products are particularly suited as precision parts, e.g. for synchromesh gear-boxes. Powder mixtures of the alloy components may be cold-pressed or pre-sintered, and sintered in ammonia. The products may be annealed and carbonitrided.
