Abstract

1347763 Cobalt - rare earth alloys GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 22 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 10875/71 Headings C7A, C7D A sintered product comprises at least 65% of Co 5 RE (RE being a rare earth, including Y) and up to 35% of a Co-RE phase richer in RE than the Co 5 RE. The product may be Co- Smmisch metal, Co - Ce - Pr, Co - Y - Pr or Co - Pr - mischmetal. The alloy may be produced by pressing and sintering a mixture of COs RE powder and a powder of a CO-RE alloy, richer in RE; both alloys being solid at the sintering temperature. The pressing may take place in a magnetic field. Sintering may be at 950‹ - 1200‹ C in an inert atmosphere.
