Abstract

1382722 Nut runners GKN SCREWS & FASTENERS Ltd 19 June 1973 [21 March 1972 23 March 1972 13 April 1972] 13037/72 13552/72 and 17110/72 Heading B3N [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for feeding a fastener carrier strip (Division B8) to a fastener driving tool 110 comprises a strip guide 116 and a feed member 124 mounted beyond the driving station and having at least one finger 128 engageable in a hole of the strip from which a fastener, for example a screw, has been removed, and means to move the member 124 to feed the strip stepwise. The driving bit 113 of the tool drives a fastener out of the strip and positions it temporarily between pivoted spring-pressed jaws 120. When the tool 110 is retracted away from the feed apparatus to remove the bit from the strip a spring 138 is compressed and rotates a pawl carrying an arm 126 by an amount limited by an adjustable stop 129. The pawl rotates a ratchet wheel on a shaft 123 keyed to the feed member 124. The feed member can be disconnected from the shaft and manually rotated by pulling and rotating a knob (200). Rubber guard strips 119 connected to the guide 116 shield the fastener shanks.
