Abstract

1339613 Securing terminals to base-plates; jointing by stamping MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970 (5)] 23257/71 Headings B3A and B3Q Apparatus for caulking terminals 2 into baseplates 1 comprises jigs 8-13, Fig. 2A, for hold ing the base-plates and means to move the jigs from one work station to another and is provided with a base-plate supplying work station having a device 14 for feeding a base-plate 1 to a jig 9 from a feeder X of base-plates, a terminal supplying work station having a device for feeding and locating terminals in base-plates in jigs 11, a caulking station having a device 17 for caulking the terminals in the base-plate in a jig 12, and a product removal station having means 21 for removing a base-plate from a jig 13. The base-plates 1 are supplied from the feeder X to a disc 55, which rotates through 90 degrees to align the base-plate with a push rod 66. The push rod is actuated to move the base-plate off the disc and into a block (65), Fig. 5D (not shown), from which it is driven on to the jig 9 at position (b) by the supply device 14. The jig is then moved successively to positions (c) and (d) by a rod 19 where terminals supplied from feeders Y, Z are inserted into rows of holes in the base-plate. At position (e) a device 17 drives the baseboard 1 downwardly against the jig body 25, Fig. 3E(e) so that caulking tools 34 are forced into the terminals 2 to secure them to the baseboard 1. The jig is then moved to position (f) where a feeding rod 20 moves it to position (g). A device 21 ejects the baseboard from the jig on to a receiver 22, whereupon a conveyer 23 brings the jig to position (h), where a rod 24 returns it to the position (a). The conveyer 23 moves at a speed sufficiently high to bring the jig 13 to the position (h) without interrupting the work cycle.
