Abstract

1381124 Movable platform scaffolding H KREYBU 30 Dec 1971 60634/71 Heading E1S [Also in Division B8] An elongate working platform is supported at each end on a hoist cage vertically movable along a scaffold upright 18-19-20, each cage carrying a pinion 40 which engages a rack 41a on the upright member 19 and having means for locking at any height; the platform (not shown) rests at its ends on the floors 35 of the cages so that (a) it is axially adjustable thereon, and (b) it may be fixed by means not shown to at least one of the uprights and the cage at that end may then be used independently, e.g. for carrying materials up to the platform. The pinion 40 is driven through gears by a crank handle 39, the gearing being mounted coaxially with a ratchet wheel 45 which engages a pawl 46 to lock the cage on the upright. The cages have guide wheels 24, 25, 26, 27 which run on flanges of the upright members 18, 19. The uprights may be anchored to the building being worked on, and are of lattice-work form.
