Abstract

1378699 Heated rolls ROSEMOUNT Inc 13 July 1972 [13 July 1971] 32930/72 Heading H5H [Also in Divisions F2 and Dl] An induction heated roll, Fig. 1, for use in fiber manufacturing and the like has a ferromagnetic roll cap 11, 12 whose interior has a close fitting thermal and electrically conducting sheath 25 containing apertures 27, 26 so located as to provide the desired temperature distribution at the outer surface of the roller. Apertures 26 disturb the induced electrical current flow patterns while apertures 27 prevent usual heat transfer. The apertures may be replaced by rows of holes. The sheath may be secured to the roll by rings, screws, groove rolling, shrink fitting or staking. Aluminium or copper may be used as sheath materials. (For Figures see next column.)
