Abstract

PURPOSE: To characterize desired axial directional temperature distribution on the surface of a roller by forming heat transfer resistance between the roller surface and an electroconductive layer under deformation in the roller axial direction in what has the electrocondutive layer inserted inside the roller.
CONSTITUTION: In the structure that a roller shell 1 is combined with an axle 2, induction heating is done by a coil 4 installed inside a roller, between the coil and the shell, for example, an electroconductive layer 5 formed annular grooves 5a. This facilitates to obtain a desired temperature distribution with changed heat transfer resistance, because gaps 5a' between the electroconductive layer 5 and the shell 1 are different in the axial direction.
