Abstract
1370968 Plastics bags PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 14 Aug 1972 [13 Aug 1971] 37881/72 Heading B8K To increase the base area of a bag and thereby facilitate standing the bag upright on one end the opposite edges of a fin seam 19a are tied together. The seam may have lines of weakness 16a defining tie members 18a, 18b that are separated from the bag by tearing along the perforations and are then drawn towards one another and tied to form the larger base area shown in Fig. 4. In another form, a single tie (18c, Fig. 2) is passed through a hole at one edge of the fin to draw the edges of the bag towards each other. A separate piece not integral with the bag could be used as a tie or a strip of adhesive tape, a cord, string or wire or a paper clip could hold the opposite edges together. The bag may be made from seamless tubing of low density polyethylene having a thickness between “ and 10 mils. for single walled bags. Multiwalled bags may be used.
