Abstract

1368245 Friction clutch; release bearing AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 24 Nov 1971 [9 Dec 1970] 58367/70 Headings F2C and F2L The fingers 16 of a diaphragm spring for a friction clutch are coated, at the part where they are contacted by a release bearing, with a mixture of a hard wearing material and a low friction plastics material to reduce wear. The thrust ring of a clutch release bearing (Fig. 5) may be similarly coated. The hard wearing material may be molybdenum, or alternatively chromium, tungsten carbide, cobalt, nickel, vandium or iron, the plastics material bring P.T.F.E.
