Abstract

1367755 Irritant-gas projectile DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 22 March 1973 [25 March 1972] 14005/73 Heading F3A A projectile comprises a container 2 for an irritant gas, an elastic envelope 1, and a sleeve 4 for fitting on to the muzzle of a launching weapon. The projectile may, however, be thrown by hand. The sleeve may be inseparable from the projectile, or may be separated therefrom in flight by means of an explosive charge and/or by the drag acting on a braking surface 5. The braking surface is constituted by: a plane or perforated disc; a plurality of stabilizing fins; or a plurality of inclined fins, or a turbine disc, which rotate, or rotates the separated sleeve to reduce its range. The sleeve is formed from steel, aluminium, brass, polycarbonates and glass-fibre-reinforced plastics. The projectile includes a fuze which is operable by and another which is operable by firing gas pressure.
