Abstract
1363418 Controlling burners RADIATION Ltd 4 Oct 1971 [29 Sept 1970] 46383/70 Headings F4F and F4T A gas-burner arrangement comprises a main burner 1, a probe heater burner 4, a probe 3 of a flame-failure device arranged so as to be heated by the heater burner, a lightning jet 6 arranged to provide a lighting flame for lighting the heater burner, the main burner 1 being between the lighting jet and the heater burner and ignition means 5 for igniting the lighting jet, so that when the lighting flame lights the heater burner and the probe 3 is warmed, thereby causing the flame-failure device to permit gas to pass to the main burner, the main burner is automatically ignited. As illustrated, the ignition means 5 is a pilot jet, but it can comprise a spark or electric-filament device. The arrangement is shown applied to a gas oven, the main burner 1 being at the rear of the oven and the jets 5 and 6 being outside, a guidesleeve Y being provided in the rear oven-wall to channel the lighting flame through to the burners 1 and 4 and to provide a visible indication, from the front, that the jets 5, 6 are alight. Adjustment of the lighting-jet and heaterburner flames is provided by variable restrictors 9, 10 on the respective supply-pipes. The probe 3 may be a mercury vapour probe.
