Abstract

1353705 Change-speed gear J A HURET and R H M HURET 20 June 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 28843/72 Heading F2D In a chain-shift cycle gear of the kind in which guide and tension sprockets 6, 7 are carried by one link 19 of a deformable parallelogram, completed by swinging links 15, 16 and a stationary link 12, the link 19 has an integral pad 20, slightly offset from the plane of the guide and tension sprockets 6, 7, to assist in guiding the chain on to the driven sprockets 4 during a shift, the parallelogram being at an acute angle relative to the pad 20, so that as the parallelogram deforms the pad 20 moves both axially and radially with respect to the axis of the driven sprockets 4, although it always lies between the largest and smallest sprocket.
