Abstract

1353557 Cathode-ray tubes RCA CORPORATION 16 Nov 1971 [16 Nov 1970], 53155/71 Heading H1D A convergence structure for a plural beam colour cathode-ray tube comprises a plurality of pairs of magnetic polepieces 118 extending towards the tube axis with a respective electron beam passing between each pair, an external magnet 46 being provided to magnetize each pair of polepieces and the ends of the polepieces being formed with flanges 130 so as to reduce the influence of other magnetic fields, e.g. from the scanning coils, on the beam convergence. The gap between the flanges 130 can have straight edges or interfitting saw tooth edges, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). The distance between the gap and the beam path is at least 1À5 times the gap width and at least half the spacing of the polepieces 118 at the beam path.
